Haley Councillor, LICSW
Hello there, my name is Haley, and I’m so glad you’re here.
As a therapist, I value the role of connection, curiosity, and understanding in the healing process. My work is grounded in the belief that many of the ways we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others are shaped by our experiences. When we’ve experienced fear, uncertainty, loss, or trauma, we naturally develop ways of adapting and protecting ourselves. Sometimes those patterns continue to affect how we experience ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us, even when the circumstances that shaped them are no longer present.
I’m particularly passionate about supporting individuals healing from trauma, including experiences rooted in attachment and early relationships. I also recognize that these experiences can be carried in the body, influencing how we respond to stress, experience emotions, and move through the world. My interest in Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR (SAFE-EMDR) grew naturally from my existing foundation in somatic and relational approaches to trauma therapy, deepening my understanding of how these perspectives can be integrated into EMDR.
I approach EMDR with curiosity, compassion, and an understanding that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship, emotional safety, and collaboration, recognizing that meaningful trauma work happens at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for each individual. My intention is to create space to understand the patterns and experiences that have shaped you, approach them without judgment, and make room for greater self-understanding, connection, and choice.
